Church Health
Predestination, Spiritual Gifts, Bible Translations, The Rapture — if you've been around the church for any period of time, you've likely interacted with Christians who have strong opinions about these—and many other— topics. The truth is: every Christian comes into the church with various theological, cultural, and personal beliefs that can make it challenging to understand one another and fight for unity. In this session, Josh will walk through a framework for theological triage to help churches and leadership teams figure out how their convictions impact their conflict.
Every healthy church will face conflict. The question isn't whether conflict will come, but how we will respond when it does. Will it weaken the church, or become an opportunity for greater unity, maturity, and gospel witness? In this presentation, Josh will guide you through a biblical framework for understanding where conflict comes from. He'll also walk you through a conflict field guide designed to give you the biblical wisdom needed to cultivate unity amidst the minefield of disagreement.
Why do committed Christians think and see things so differently? What are the psychological factors that lead to different personalities, perspectives, and positions? How can we calibrate our consciences to align with Biblical truth? In this session, Josh will explain how the conscience functons in the Christian life and provide biblical principles for calibrating our consciences around God's Word.
What did Jesus say about unity in the church? What does unity have to do with Christian maturity? How can local churches and leaders cultivate unity in their congregations? In this session, Josh will unpack a biblical vision for church unity and address some of the challenges that come with it.
